Site Maintenance / Possible Downtime

We're going to be making some fairly big behind-the-scenes changes to the website this weekend, and we'll also be doing some housekeeping while we're at it.

The site may be down or read-only (no posting) for short periods while we do this work. We appreciate your patience during this time, and please excuse our mess while we're working. :)

I'll post to this thread when the work is done and we're back to business as usual.

There is so much done behind the scenes every day at LynnBlakeGolf.com. Things you never see and that you never know happened. But happen they do, and that is why you are viewing and participating in these pages today.

Over the past six years, we've grown this place from scratch and now deliver our message daily to golfers in more than one hundred countries. Every two seconds, 24/7, somebody somewhere in the world is enjoying a new LBG page view. And, our 'unique vistors' stay more than four times longer than they do on the average golf site. I look at our monthly 'stats' and can only shake my head in wonder.

None of this would have been possible without my dedicated 'in the wings' team. Over the past several years, Bambam has assumed command of those efforts. Together with the always available assist of Bagger Lance, who ably led as we slugged through our early days, he is now doing the work necessary -- it's been months in the making -- to deliver you an even higher level of service.

I'm writing this post to recognize the tireless efforts of both these stalwarts.

Thanks, guys.

You're the best!

Mr. Passage....if you want to come out of the basement for a week...anyone from MN....we have a few spots left.

ICT (I'm not a female. I think Win is almost as cute as Shaniah!).

We're Back

The main part of the maintenance is done. I'll be making additional tweaks tomorrow and this coming week. If you see something odd or not working...besides Daryl and Bucket...please let me know in this thread. Thanks!

This is the kind of thing I'm talking about:

The media files are stored in /home/lynnxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

We run a full backup of the primary node. It includes media, code, up to the second replication db backup, and the nightly mysql hot copies.

For an offsite mirror like http://bambam.lynnblakegolfxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx it's recommended you use an pre-configured VM and only rsync the database and media files. The xxxxxxxxxxxxxxlynn/config and ~lynnxxxxxxxxxxxxxxfolders should be kept up to date via the central code repository. This can be done with scripts in the ~lynnxxxx/config/xxxxxxxxxfolder. Do not use the push scripts unless you've made an approved change. They won't get pushed to the live site, but they could get accidentally updated on the live site during a release.

Gotta love it!

P.S. In our Website World, this is BRAIN POWER at work.

BRAIN POWER programming real-time, auto-execute SYSTEMS.

All for you.

Now, in our GolfStroke World, I offer the following 'stream-of-consciousness', unashamed threadjack.

Also for you . . .

************************************************** **************

In certain preening quarters, a self-proclaimed 'new breed' of golf 'teacher/scientists' argues that you cannot use BRAIN POWER -- the same used by my guys on this site and by you every day as a human being -- to control your Left Wrist (and thus, the Clubface) through Impact.

In other words, they believe that you cannot make your Left Wrist execute one of three basic Feels -- Roll, No Roll or Reverse Roll -- through Impact.

Thus, you have NO CONTROL of the Clubface during Impact.

Well, we here at Lynn Blake Golf -- "junk scientists", "book literalists" or whatever -- just don't believe that.

To the contrary, we believe that your Left Wrist controls the Clubhead (Wrist Action) and the Clubface (Hinge Action). Further, we believe that your Left Wrist Control is in operation from Address to the Finish. Especially during Impact, the Left Wrist controls the ClubFACE.

In other words, your Left Wrist Motion through the Impact Interval -- and the resulting ClubFACE Motion -- is pre-selected and deliberate. There is no 'happenstance'.

As a player, your objective was . . .

Visualized as 'Ball Flight' in Preliminary Address . . .

Crystallized as 'Machine Alignments' in Impact Fix . . .

Programmed as 'Motion' in Adjusted Address; and then . . .

Executed in 'real time' as The Stroke.

Summarizing our "Cave Man" view:

The CONSCIOUS MIND programs . . . The SUBCONCIOUS executes.

If not this idea . . .

Then what?

:laughing9

Thanks, Yoda. :)

The knowledge about the alignments you teach is the only way I would've ever ended up with a flat left wrist when swinging a golf club. Without LBG, I'd still be deep in the fog.

Order In the Court

Okay, this stuff can't stay here. Gotta move it somewhere. Reply, please, but expect it all to be in a new place tomorrow.

Maybe in the 'Compression' thread, aka, 'Secrets of the Non-Existent Hinge Action' . . .

:confused1

Hey, it could work!

Would have been a flipper for life minus LBG. Thank you for all your efforts, Yoda and crew...:salut:
