Sad but true, yours truly has taken nearly a year away from his workout routine.
I doesn't take long to lose those hard earned gains in fitness and it becomes very apparent when starting back up again.
I've spent the last three weeks getting back into my routine and have found overall, I've lost about 30% of the strength I worked so hard to achieve up to a year ago. My endurance is way lower and it's very easy to find myself overtrained as I start back up. Meaning my recovery is slower. My bodyfat is higher and my weight hasn't changed. That tells me I've lost significant muscle mass while gaining fat.
The good news is I'm seeing gains coming back week by week so that is encouragement enough to keep going. The post workout soreness is decreasing significantly and I'm getting that feeling of "body awareness" again.
It's very humbling going back into the gym and seeing all the guys still there, looking much fitter than a year ago. I was as fit if not fitter than them, and now I feel like a little girly-man.
Oh well, watch out...Baggers coming on strong again! In three months I should be within striking distance of my old self.
Come-on Bucket! I've seen you in person buddy and you can't fool me.
