Does that mean for say a driver the face should be closed to the impact plane line? Or since there is still some closing, it should be slightly open, but not as open as for horizontal hinging?
For Angled Hinging, the Clubface is aligned Closed to the Plane Line. In earlier editions of TGM, Homer advocated a Square alignment -- as opposed to Horizontal Hinging's Open alignment -- thinking that would be sufficient of offset the Fade characteristic. But he came to believe otherwise -- "the tendency to Fade is still there" -- and later advised the Closed condition referenced in 2-J-1.

Dr. Yoda's Rx For Pushed Shots

Failure to Close the Clubface at Fix would result in a Fade or Slice, not a dead straight Shot ten yards right of Target.

Before getting too involved in a complicated 'Swing Overhaul', take this over-the-counter prescription from Dr. Yoda:

Locate the Ball a smidgeon further forward in your Stance.

Then call me in the morning.
